Years of domination by his possessive mother has left Albert scarcely able to face the world beyond his cosy lower middle-class home. But unbearable as the outside is, he is far from being at peace. He is, in fact, obsessed by a single, recurrent nightmare which harks back to a childhood misdemeanour.
